The Grant Protocol for the Irrigation Modernization Project Has Been Published for Türkiye
Under the agreement, Türkiye becomes eligible to receive a grant totaling 222.3 million Euros. The grant protocol signed between the Republic of Türkiye and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development was published today in the Official Gazette and has officially entered into force. Within the scope of the Türkiye Irrigation Modernization Project, investments will be carried out by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works (DSİ) to transform five selected irrigation systems—Atabey, Kartalkaya, Ereğli–İvriz, Alaşehir, and Uzunlu—covering a total area of 71,195 hectares and 24,050 parcels, from open-channel systems to pressurized irrigation systems. The project will also support the institutional capacity development of Irrigation Unions (SB) and provide financing for a pilot application focused on groundwater irrigation powered by solar energy.
